Our core mission: To raise money for the Fox Library to keep it a thriving resource for the community.
Where does the money go?
The Little Fox Shop is the fundraising branch of The Friends of the Fox. We are a 501 (c)(3) and the money that we raise from the sale of items in the shop goes directly to supporting on-going programs as well as requests from the library.
- Ever attend a sing-along? (we help with that)
- Rested on the great bench in the lobby? (we did that)
- Dropped books in the new book drop outside? (we funded that)
- Borrowed books or video games from the Fox? (we paid for lots of those)
- Visited the library on a Friday or Saturday? (yep, we do that too)
Resale is simply the re-selling of previously enjoyed items. The Little Fox is not a consignment store. We accept donations and we provide tax receipts for those who want them. We resell anything kid related.
We offer children’s clothing from newborn to size 16, dance wear and shoes, sports equipment, toys, games and puzzles. We offer board books, easy readers and popular YA titles. Infant gear such as bouncers, boppy pillows, potty seats, high chairs, infant bathtubs, strollers and car seats. For mommas-to-be we have maternity clothing and a wide variety of baby carriers, wraps and slings. div</>
A Word About Our Volunteers.
We are lucky to have some of the best and most dedicated volunteers sharing their time and expertise with us. It takes roughly 100+ human-hours a week to keep The Little Fox Shop running. This is only possible due to all the hard work of our awesome volunteers.
How did it all start?
In 2008, friends Susan Dorson and Amy Weitzman decided to open a resale shop in an unused space on the main floor of the Fox Library. This idea grew out of a need to find funding for a much loved local resource – The Fox. On a shoe-string budget, donated fixtures, and a lot of sweat equity from friends and family The Fox Shop “was born."
Susan still manages the shop along with Stephanie Murphy…
…We have been working together for the past five years and love what we do. Every day we are thinking of new ways to improve The Shop. We love our library and our community. We especially love that we get to offer toys and clothes an extended life and make buying and consuming a little more environmentally friendly.
